Menara Mandiri facade lighting in Jakarta
Livin' the Light as an Urban Beacon
Facade lighting of Menara Mandiri, Jakarta
Dear partners and friends,
In a recent architectural lighting case from Jakarta, CDN Lighting is featured through the facade lighting story of Menara Mandiri. The project explores how architectural light can renew a landmark's night-time identity while respecting the building's original character.
Inspired by Bank Mandiri's spirit of being leading, trusted, and growing together, the lighting concept turns the twin towers into a calm urban beacon within Jakarta's skyline.

Menara Mandiri - where light expresses trust, progress and connectivity
Located on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, one of Jakarta's most prominent business corridors, Menara Mandiri faces the Gelora Bung Karno sports complex and the surrounding urban park area. Its twin towers are visible from long urban perspectives and form part of the city's night-time skyline.
The facade lighting approach follows the existing vertical and horizontal elements of the towers. Rather than adding an unrelated decorative layer, light becomes part of the architecture itself.

A layered lighting system for a living urban facade
The facade composition is created through a combination of linear light, pixel points, wallwashing and selective floodlighting. Linear elements define the architectural outline, while pixel lights introduce detail, movement and a sense of digital responsiveness.
Animated lighting sequences, inspired by the flowing ribbon element of Bank Mandiri's visual identity, bring a measured rhythm across the towers. The movement is designed to feel calm and controlled rather than theatrical.
Sustainability and visual comfort were also central to the design. Light intensity, beam direction and fixture placement were carefully considered to reduce unnecessary spill light and keep the building comfortable for people inside and outside.
